ONDO CENTRAL DESERVES CONTINUITY AND PROGRESS: OMO-EKUN LEKAN SI!

ONE GOOD TERM DESERVES ANOTHER:

ONDO CENTRAL, LET US GIVE ADEGBONMIRE OUR MANDATE AGAIN!

By Odunayo Ogunmodede

Having given Senator Ayodele Adegbonmire, SAN, popularly known as Omo-Ekun, the opportunity to represent the District in the Red Chamber since 2023, the question is simple: should we build on the progress recorded in his first term or abandon the journey halfway?
The principle is clear: One Good Term Deserves Another!

ACHIEVEMENTS THAT DESERVE RECOGNITION:

Since assuming office, Senator Adegbonmire has made efforts to connect his representation with the aspirations of his constituents. His interventions in educational support, empowerment, infrastructure advocacy and employment facilitation have formed important parts of his activities.

Through scholarship support for students in secondary and tertiary institutions, including beneficiaries pursuing legal education at the Nigerian Law School, his educational interventions have offered opportunities for young people to pursue their ambitions. Investing in education is investing in the future of Ondo Central, and such efforts deserve recognition and sustained commitment.

His facilitation of employment opportunities for young people in federal institutions and the military also reflects the importance of connecting representation with opportunities for economic advancement. For many families, access to employment can make a significant difference in their standard of living.

On infrastructure, Adegbonmire has facilitated the dualisation of the Akure–Ondo–Ore highway and efforts to improve road access in parts of Akure South, including Oke Iya along Ijoka, Abo-Oluwa Ijigba, the Old Board Road axis, and Oda. These interventions and advocacy efforts underscore the need for sustained representation that can continue to press for projects capable of improving transportation, commerce and community development.

His empowerment initiatives, including the 2025 Mega empowerment programme, and engagement with communities across the six local government areas of Ondo Central further demonstrate the importance of maintaining a relationship between an elected representative and the people who entrusted him with their mandate.

Beyond these efforts, his advocacy for federal institutions and development opportunities that could benefit the District reflects the broader responsibility of a reliable senator: to ensure that Ondo Central remains visible in national conversations.

WHY CONTINUITY MATTERS:

Where a representative has demonstrated commitment and laid a foundation for further development, continuity deserves serious consideration. A second term can provide an opportunity to consolidate existing interventions, pursue unfinished initiatives and deliver even greater benefits to the people. Ondo Central needs representation that will continue to champion education, employment, infrastructure, youth development and the attraction of federal opportunities. The experience and relationships developed during a first term can be valuable assets in pursuing these goals.

OMO-EKUN LEKAN SI!
