THE MANGO BOY

THE MANGO BOY

- Odunayo Ogunmodede

Once upon a time, a poor boy saw a riped and  beautiful mango and decided to pluck it. After several failed efforts, he became tired and frustrated, yet, determined to get the mango.

When he saw that the weather had already become dark, he removed his jacket, laid it under the mango tree, and concluded thus, "I will pass the night here and continue trying tomorrow, because I must get this beautiful mango unfailingly", he determined.

After he had slept off, a monkey whose abode was on the tree returned home as usual. On seeing the poor boy sleeping helplessly under the tree, he felt unsafe, and thought in his mind, "let me pluck a mango and hit him hard whether he would wake up and leave my vicinity".

The monkey went straight for the poor boy's targetted  mango, plucked it and threw it at him. It hit him at the back and the boy jumped up from his sleep. He picked up the fresh mango, and smiled at it. He thereafter looked up but couldn't see the monkey because he has hidden under some leaves.

The young boy left in joy and fulfilment. The spirit of determination had worked for him.

LESSON: No matter the number of times you fall, keep on rising - be determined, and the sky will be your starting point.
