OMO-EKUN HAS DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCE

In every sensible and democratic setting, leadership is ultimately measured by performance, vision and impact. Since assuming office as the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, popularly known as OMO EKUN, has consistently demonstrated competence, capacity, and commitment to the development of his constituency and Ondo State in general.

A renowned legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Senator Adegbonmire has brought to the Senate a wealth of experience, intellectual depth and a clear understanding of governance. His performance since his inauguration has shown that he is not merely occupying a seat at the Red Chamber, but actively utilizing his position to advance the interests of the people he represents.

One of his most remarkable achievements is his legislative effectiveness. Within a short period in office, he sponsored key bills aimed at expanding educational and healthcare opportunities in Ondo State. These include bills seeking the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture, Akure, the Federal University Akure Teaching Hospital, and the Federal University of Arts, Culture, Science and Tourism in Igbara-Oke. These legislative initiatives are designed to create jobs, improve access to quality education, strengthen healthcare delivery and stimulate economic growth across the State.

Beyond lawmaking, OMO EKUN has distinguished himself through impactful constituency representation. He facilitated the inclusion of the dualization of the Akure–Ondo–Ore Highway in the national budget, a major infrastructure project with significant economic and social benefits for the State. He has also supported road rehabilitation projects across several communities, helping to improve connectivity and economic activities.

His commitment to education has been evident through scholarships, payment of examination fees, sponsorship of students, renovation of schools, and support for law graduates from Ondo Central. These interventions have provided opportunities for many young people who might otherwise have been denied access to quality education.

In the area of youth empowerment and employment, Senator Adegbonmire has facilitated federal employment opportunities for numerous constituents in agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Fire Service, and other federal establishments. He has also implemented empowerment programmes that provided beneficiaries with tools, equipment and financial support to improve their livelihoods.

Agriculture has equally received significant attention from the Senator. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Colleges and Institutions, he has championed initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural education and food security. At the constituency level, he has distributed fertilizers and supported farmers to boost agricultural productivity.

His leadership qualities have earned him important responsibilities within the Senate, including chairing strategic committees and leading critical national assignments such as the Electoral Act Review Committee. These appointments reflect the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues and underscore his growing influence within the National Assembly. 

Without doubt, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire has demonstrated that effective representation is about tangible results, purposeful legislation and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.
