The scheduled meeting between Union Leaders and workers in Ondo State was held amidst disagreements and agreements at the Senior Staff Club Auditorium on Tuesday morning.
At the opening of the workers' parliament, the leaderships of JNC, NLC and TUC briefed the workforce about the outcome of their meeting with government representatives on Monday.
The JNC Chairman, Comrade Niyi Fabunmi said the government has given them two options based on the available funds. Either to get five months deductions and two months subvention for the tertiary institutions, or October net salary. The NLC Chairman in the State who is also the NCSU National Vice President, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye also buttressed the outcome. Their TUC counterpart, Comrade Helen Odofin testified too.
After series of discussions and arguments, it was finally agreed that government should pay pensioners for the month of September, five months deductions to cooperative societies and two months subvention to all the four tertiary institutions in the State. The implication of the aforementioned is that no worker in the State Service will be paid October salary for now. A question which is stranded of answer is, "when will October salary be paid?" The Organized Labour, in response to this, promised to continue monitoring the State's financial situation and be updating workers appropriately.
However, these resolutions have no effect on Local government workers and primary school teachers.
