The governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu had on Monday, 5th July lamented on the high rise of new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ondo, but expressed optimism that the State would surely win the battle against the deadly disease.

In the state wide broadcast, the governor advised the people of Ondo State, including politicians to behave responsibly so that the current pandemic would not throw the State to a lasting dilemma.

His words: “Let me use this opportunity to passionately appeal to all our people to please take the fight against Covid-19 seriously. The menace of this deadly virus is expanding in exponential measure. It is in fact putting massive pressure on the treatment facilities of Government. I have just been briefed that between Saturday July the 4th and Sunday July the 5th a total of 62 new cases were recorded".

Speaking further on the need not to be panic, he said, "my dear people, in spite of the vicissitude of the times, I wish to tell you that I am unshaken in my conviction and faith in our ability to overcome this pandermic. I urge us all to act responsibly, deepen our prayers for divine intervention and perfect healing for our State.

The governor who declared his Covid-19 status as positive on the 29th of June, also confirmed that he had fully recovered from the virus after he had tested negative twice, thanks to early detection and prompt treatment.
