Akeredolu Wins Again

The governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had on Wednesday recorded a victory in the case filed against him by Dr. Nat Adojutelegan who lost the last primary election of the APC to the incumbent governor.

Adojutelegan claimed that the primary election was marred by irregularities and non-compliance with the APC's Constitution, Electoral Guidelines and the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended). He also alleged that the delegates' list used for the govenorship primary election violated Section 87 (7) and (8) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), Article 20 (iii) and (iv) (a), (b), (c) and (d) of the APC Constitution 2014 (as amended).

However, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday dismissed the suit, ruled that the petitioner filed the case out of time. He said the suit was a pre-primary election due to its dependence on a pending suit. A fine of N120,000 was thereby awarded against the petitioner.
