Bearing in mind the core objective of SAGG - good governance advocacy, we are not insensitive to the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, and just like any other Nigerian who is a stakeholder in the sunshine State, we are highly motivated by our vision to be fully part of the event and play our roles as lined up by the Constitution.
For avoidance of doubt, SAGG may decide to rally support for a particular candidate at the end, but such consideration will be based on the following criteria;
i. Integrity: It's a very clear fact globally, that no government can be successful without people of integrity running its affairs. This trend is what we are advocating in Nigerian politics, and Ondo State is never an exception. We need a man who will call a white, a white, and who will call a pink, a pink. We need honesty and truthfulness.
ii. Experience: There is no gainsaying about the fact that, governance is a very complex task and requires the inputs of experienced personnel. We will therefore at SAGG, recommend nothing less for our good people of Ondo State.
iii. Patriotism: Being the sole of political business, and also our watchword at SAGG, patriotism will be one of our standards for recognition of any candidate, regardless of his or her political party.
iv. Antecedent: Another vital thing to consider in any candidacy is his past records, including the offices he had held and performances. Just like the popular saying, that, 'characters' are smoke, no matter how hard you try to cover up, it will definitely force its way out'. Now is the time for past records to speak in high volume.
v. Manifestoes: We have seen it as an obligation to scrutinize manifestoes of all the candidates, and at last, rally support for whoever is found at the top of the game with the best manifestoes for our people. We need manifestoes which will be dedicated to the masses, against selfish interest.
Arising from the foregoing therefore, it is pertinent to note that SAGG has not got any preference among the candidates currently, but we are rest assured of being fully in the game, because, achieving our aims and objectives as a Movement would only be a mirage if we decide to ignore the system. No player succeeds outside the pitch, therefore, SAGG will never close her eyes to the Nigerian and African political systems, but continue firing in all cylinders in advocating for good governance, youth mobilization and gender equality.
